A Pinky Promise from God

We have all heard the phrase, “There are only two things in life that are certain – death and taxes”. I would like to add a third one to that list – a pinky promise from God!

For those of you who don’t know what a “Pinky Promise” is, it is a promise that just can not, no matter what, with-out-a-doubt, be broken! If you say you are going to do something – then you better do it! At the Sneed house, we have pinky promises! It can be from anything as little as Jenna paying close attention in school (she takes after her father!), to “Daddy, you pinky promise that we will be ok in this storm”?

Yesterday in our worship service, I was reminded of a pinky promise from God. God is promising us new mercies every morning and HE is faithful to deliver these mercies to our heart’s door every day. I read from Lamentations 3:22-23, then we sang Great Is Thy Faithfulness.

(22) The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;

(23)  they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
  Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!

Lord, thank you for your “faithfulness unto me”, even though I fail you. Help me to live my life striving to be holy!
