I don’t know about you but if you are anything at all like me – you are busy! You have deadlines to meet, you have things to do at work, you have things to do at home and you have kids to run from here to there…we are just way to busy!
As I was leaving my house this past Sunday afternoon one of my neighbors was walking in the neighborhood and asked me where I was going. I told her that I was heading back to church and she made the comment that “you guys are always so busy with church stuff”! I really was not sure how to take that comment because I did not know if she meant it in a good way or a bad way. They are christians and attend church regularly, but the comment really hit home with me.
We really are busy people – doing “church stuff”!
God knew that our busy schedules would be a problem. That is why He tells us in Psalm 46:10,
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
When was the last time that you just stopped and just did nothing and listened to God. You turned off the radio, the TV, your computer, smartphone, Facebook, twitter and anything else that could take your attention and were just STILL BEFORE GOD!
So many times I know that I am rushing around trying to do the things of God that I forget to be still before God and without Him – we can do nothing!
Lord, help us to be still before you so that we can hear from you. May your glory be spread throughout all the land and may we make much of you! Lord, we need your desperately in our lives!
