Freedom Of Religion Rally

Nov 20, 2013 — 2 Comments

On November 16, 2013, a group of people gathered together to rally around two men who have stood up for their belief in God. Tobin Davidson, the principal at Sale Creek High School, and Alan Stewart, pastor at Rechoboth Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy, TN, are the two men under fire from the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

Pastor Stewart was asked by Mr. Davidson to speak to his students during at 9/11 memorial ceremony. After the 7 minute speech all seemed well, that is, until several weeks later when a letter was received at the Hamilton County Board of Education from the Freedom from Religion Foundation. They referred to the speech as a “serious concern”.

It is hard for me to believe that in Soddy Daisy, TN, we are under attack for what and who we believe in, and it is time for us as Christians to start standing firm in our belief in God and stand up for the truth!

I was honored to play a small role in the ceremony, but what I want you to see is the speech made by Pastor Alan Stewart during the rally. (Video by Ryan Robertson)

Should it really surprise us that people are resisting the gospel? If so many Jews persecuted their own prophets, Christ himself, and the early church, should we be surprised that the gospel of Christ is resisted? However, let resistance and even persecution come for 2 reasons: A- it kills the idea of a nominal Christian congregation, B- the church generally thrives under persecution b/c Christ becomes the focus, not a self-help gospel. Just some thoughts.
