On November 4, 2013, I started a fun, reader-driven poll on my website entitled “The Christmas Movie Madness”. The purpose of the poll, besides being fun for me, was to see what my readers thought was the best Christmas movie out there. All of the nominations came in and the top 16 movies were posted and placed into brackets for the voting to begin.
The Sweet Sixteen round came and quickly moved to the Elite Eight. Next came the Final Four and then the Championship game.
That was when reality set in!
Strange thing…reality! Most of the time reality has a way of showing us what is important to us.
On the Monday morning of the final round of the Christmas Movie Madness, I received a phone call from my father letting me know that my grandmother had passed away. The “madness” just did not seem to be as important to me at that point…and it has not for several weeks.
Many of you have asked me, “So, what movie won the Christmas Movie Madness?”. Well, there was never a final round, so there was not winner.
But, as they say on Broadway – “THE SHOW MUST GO ON”!
I know that it is just about one month past Christmas, but I want to finish what I started. So, the Championship of the Christmas Movie Madness starts today and will run until next Thursday morning, with the winner being announced next Friday.
The two movies that made it to the final round are #1 – It’s A Wonderful Life & #2 – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
