Worship Wednesday: “He Will Hold Me Fast”

Today’s Worship Wednesday song comes from Keith & Kristyn Getty entitled “He Will Hold Me Fast”. WOW, what amazing and comforting words.

I don’t know if you are having a difficult time in your life right now or not, but at some point, you will and these words are very encouraging to hear.

The Gettys have this to say about this song:

From the first time we heard this song written by Matt Merker, we felt it was a unique jewel that would be a comfort and encouragement to God’s people as we live out faith in these difficult times, whether in suffering, persecution or death. It reminded us of the Spirituals and also of the hymn, “We Rest on Thee” (which inspired the missionary Jim Elliot and the title of his biography, “Through Gates of Splendor”). Interestingly, the Finish melody, “Finlandia,” is also the melodic basis of the hymn, “Be Still My Soul,” that was the favorite hymn of Eric Liddell, famous Olympic gold medalist who retired early from Sport to return to China, home of his birth, and serve as missionary.

I hope you find encouragement and rest today in knowing, that if you know HIM as your Lord and Savior, He is holding you fast today!

Worship Wednesday – “Be Still And Know”

Worship Wednesdays Banner

Today’s song is “Be Still And Know” by Kari Jobe. This song is a beautiful melody that pleads with us to slow down, take a deep breath and BE STILL before God.

That is extremely hard for most of us to do. Stop and be still. We all seem to be rushing from one place to another, trying to get as much done as possible, when what God wants us to do is to “be still and know that I am God”.

Psalm 46:10 says,

    “Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.”

When we are still before God, we begin to notice just how much we need Him and are dependent upon Him. We begin to see a loving Father, who is there to care for us and nurture us. We begin to see just how much grace, love and mercy he has given to each one of us – and we begin to worship!

I do not know the author of this quote but I believe it – “If the devil can’t make you bad, he’ll make your busy”.

I am praying today that we all will stop – take a deep breath – and be still and know that HE is God and worship HIM today!
