Worship Wednesdays: “You Are My Shepherd”

Worship Wednesdays Banner

I am sure that we have all heard these verses (even if you aren’t a follower of Jesus) at some point in our lives. Psalm 23 says,

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures.

He leads me beside still waters.

He restores my soul.

He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell[f] in the house of the Lord forever.

Today’s Worship Wednesday song is “You Are My Shepherd” by Tricia Brock. It is a beautiful reminder of the words from Psalm 100:3,

Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

I hope you enjoy “You Are My Shepherd”!

You Are My Shepherd

I love Pandora radio. I have it playing in my office all the time. Over the past few months I have been hearing a song that I just can not get out of my head.

Today I heard it again – “You Are My Shepherd” by Tricia Brock. What an amazing song! It was inspired by Psalm 23.

1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,
for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The words to the chorus go like this:

You are my shepherd in the wilderness. Whom shall I fear?
You are the God who goes before me, My Rock and my Shield.
In troubled times You will provide and I shall not want. You are, You are my God.
